Inspect the Chrome sidebar locally.
This activation-pending package demonstrates active-page capture, bounded selections, local drafts, commentary, and review inside Chrome. It is deliberately disconnected from Annotated services until production Clerk credentials are installed.
Load in Chrome
Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the build folder.
Pin and inspect
Open Annotated from Chrome’s toolbar, select content on a public page, and walk through Clip, Comment, and Review locally.
What the extension can access
Permissions are scoped to the task: the active tab for context and selection, side panel UI, local draft storage, and the configured Annotated Sync Host for authentication.
- Text is captured only when you select it or paste a URL.
- Microphone access is requested only when you start recorded commentary.
- Screenshot capture is optional and only used where page permissions allow it.
- Unsupported, private-network, authentication, and protected media pages are blocked with a reason.
- Sign-in, API requests, uploads, publishing, and X sharing are disabled in this offline artifact.
This is an offline inspection artifact, not the auth-enabled Chrome Web Store release. The production package must be rebuilt with a real Clerk live publishable key and Sync Host before sign-in or publishing can be enabled.
